Can you share the journey and experiences that led you to your current role within Phoenix International?

As the Branch Manager, plus being a part of the sales team at Phoenix International, my journey through the logistics industry has been challenging and rewarding. With over 20 years of experience, I've seen firsthand the evolution of this sector and my growth within it. Starting in sales, I've always been driven by the thrill of the deal and the satisfaction of meeting client needs. This passion has guided me throughout my career, fostering a work environment based on support, openness, and a shared goal of success and fulfillment.

What unique perspectives or skills do women bring to the logistics industry, and how does it benefit Phoenix International?

Reflecting on my experiences, it's clear that women bring indispensable qualities to the logistics field. Our meticulous nature and ability to view challenges from diverse perspectives—familial or societal—inject a unique warmth and empathy into our work. We carry the weight of societal expectations with adaptability, transforming us into "superwomen" of logistics. This ability to pay close attention to detail and empathize deeply with clients allows us to craft solutions that are effective and resonate on a human level.

What message or words of encouragement would you like to share with your colleagues and peers on International Women’s Day?

To my fellow women in logistics: do not be intimidated by the physical demands of our industry. Our strength lies not in brute force but in our communication skills, meticulous planning, and unparalleled ability to empathize and innovate. We can step into our clients' shoes, anticipate their needs, and devise thoughtful, detailed strategies to meet them.

What advice would you offer to other women aspiring to pursue logistics and freight forwarding careers?

For those women looking to forge a career in logistics and freight forwarding, remember that your natural inclination to connect, share, and engage is your greatest asset. The landscape of leadership in logistics is shifting—from a focus on processes to a focus on results. This transition opens up new opportunities for us to demonstrate our autonomy, earn trust, and lead with flexibility and tolerance. These qualities lead to better outcomes and client satisfaction and inspire creativity and innovation among our teams.

Closing Thoughts

In closing, the journey to leadership within Phoenix International has taught me the power of resilience, the importance of empathy, and the transformative impact of women in logistics. As we push the boundaries and challenge the status quo, let's support each other, celebrate our achievements, and pave the way for future generations of women in logistics.
